The latest audiobook in the Alexis Carew series by J.A. Sutherland is now available at Audible: The Queen’s Pardon. This is the sixth book in the popular SFF series, and follows the previous installments, beginning with Into the Dark. Alexis (and Elizabeth) will be back with Book #7 in Fall 2019.
Allies and enemies are not always what they seem.
Trapped on a hostile world, hunted by pirate bands, and abandoned by her fellow captains, Alexis Carew must lead her small band to safety, even though it seems every hand is set against her. Stalked by pirates in the skies above and shadowy alien figures on the planet below, Alexis must convince former enemies to trust her even as she discovers where the tendrils of her true enemies lead.
Elizabeth’s latest release is Of Dubious Intent, the first book in the new Dark Artifice series by Richard Grantham. This steampunk fantasy novel, set in early 19th century Britain, is now available at Audible.
Do you think when a man’s name reaches my ear, that he doesn’t deserve what I bring him?
Cat has grown up as a cutpurse on London’s streets – pretending to be a boy to stay clear of the procurers, but that ruse is getting harder to maintain and she needs a new plan. One that will let her keep the gang’s next big score for herself, get her free of the streets, and give her the hope of a new life. Then she finds her plan was someone else’s all along – and that man’s intentions are not at all what they seem.
The latest audiobook in Clara Benson’s Angela Marchmont Mystery series is now available at Audible: The Incident at Fives Castle. Elizabeth has narrated three other books in this 1920s British lady detective series: The Mystery at Underwood House, The Treasure at Poldarrow Point, and The Riddle at Gipsy’s Mile.
It is Hogmanay, and Angela Marchmont is at Fives Castle, the Scottish seat of the Earl of Strathmerrick, to see in the start of 1928. But when she finds out that the Foreign Secretary, the American Ambassador, and the Head of British Intelligence are also among the guests, Angela begins to suspect that something momentous is afoot. Before long, they are all snowed in and a body is discovered, and Angela soon finds suspicion directed against herself….
Elizabeth’s latest Audible release is the second book in the Shards of Excalibur series by Edward Willett: Twist of the Blade. The first book in the series is already available at Audible: Song of the Sword, which has garnered very positive reviews. The remaining three books in the series will be released over the course of the summer. This wonderful Canadian YA fantasy series is a unique twist on the old Arthurian stories of Merlin, the Lady of the Lake, and the powerful sword Excalibur.
Having saved the first Shard of the sword Excalibur from Internet mogul Rex Major (aka Merlin), Ariane and Wally are on the lookout for the second. Wally is worried that the power of the first Shard is already changing Ariane, giving her the strength to do good and evil, and when she badly injures his bullying sister, Flish, it seems he’s right.
Meanwhile, they have a serious problem: Ariane’s located the second Shard in France. Sure, her inherited powers from the Lady of the Lake enable her to travel magically through fresh water, but it hasn’t escaped their notice that there’s a huge saltwater ocean separating them from their next target. And Rex Major is already on his way there.
As Major uses Wally’s doubts – and his secret wish to be more than just a nerdy sidekick – to cause a rift between the friends, Ariane takes the chance to go it alone. But if the first Shard’s power is barely controllable, how will she fare when two Shards are united? And what can Wally do to get his friend back?
Elizabeth is excited to announce the release of the latest book in the popular Alexis Carew series by J.A. Sutherland: Privateer, book #5, now available at Audible. If you haven’t yet listened to this swashbuckling SFF adventure series, start with Into the Dark, and continue with Mutineer, The Little Ships, and HMS Nightingale. Be sure to listen to the audio sample of the latest release!
Even with no war on, there are always battles to fight.
A cease-fire in the war with Hanover leaves Lieutenant Alexis Carew on half-pay, in-atmosphere, and with her ship laid up in ordinary until called upon once more for the needs of the Service. She was, at least, lucky enough to be in her home star system when her last ship, HMS Nightingale, paid off, unlike much of her former crew.
She’s left to help manage her family lands, though still with no certainty she’ll be allowed to inherit them. It would be a tranquil, peaceful life, if not for the influx of asteroid miners seeking their fortunes, the uncertainties of her inheritance, and the nagging certainty that her current life is not what she really wants.
She’d give anything to command a ship again.
Alexis Carew fans, take note! The fourth book in J.A. Sutherland’s excellent SFF series is now available at Audible! Elizabeth has been enjoying narrating this series – about a young British female Naval officer in space – since 2015. Other books in the series include Into the Dark, Mutineer, The Little Ships, and the novellas Wronged and Planetfall. If you haven’t listened to Alexis’ adventures, find out what you’re missing by starting with Into the Dark.
For Lieutenant Alexis Carew, it should be the perfect assignment – a command of her own and a chance to return to her home star system.
What she finds is a surly crew, the dregs of every frigate and ship of the line to pass through on the way to the war’s front, a first officer who thinks the command should have been his, and colonial worlds where they believe a girl’s place is somewhere very different than command of a Queen’s starship. Add to that the mysterious disappearances of ships vital to the war effort and an old enemy who seems intent on convincing her he’s changed.
Then there’s the mongoose with an unnatural affinity for her boots.
